News from the Grand Cove Lawn Bowling Club (GCLBC) Well our “on or off ” bowling season is on - though with restrictions - and a hope for less limitations as the season progresses. We are making our plans to begin with a modified season and schedule, respecting the current Covid rules. We will adjust as permitted. "While under Covid rules, a team of volunteers under the direction of Andy and Debbie Davis (GCLBC’s Vice President and Membership Director) organized an Open House week to introduce “the game we love” to new residents and others who expressed an interest in trying it out. New bowlers were paired up with member volunteers - intermittently scheduled to keep everyone safe. Volunteers walked through the mechanics of the “delivery”, and the rules of the game and coached the new bowlers as they tried it out for an hour or two. "Well, the Open House was beyond our expectations. We are pleased to extend a big welcome to 29 “new” bowlers who have registered to join the club - making us about 75 members strong. We extend a huge thank you to Ellie Watt and Wilma Jilesen for scheduling the Open House sessions and to all the club members who volunteered to “coach” the participants. "You will notice a lot more activities on the greens. Open bowling and practice/training sessions, and several league nights and fun tournaments starting July 5. We are looking forward to a great season on the greens where we plan to have a lot more fun!"If anyone missed the Open House opportunity but would like to know more about the club or the game please feel free to reach out to our membership director - Debbie Davis at davisandydeb@gmail.com Debbie will set you up with someone who can answer your questions.
